It got to -18C here once, but that was considered extraordinarily cold and they actually closed schools that day. Normally, it's around -5 for the winter, and then its usually 35-40 until the middle of fall.
Coldest I've seen was around -8F, maybe with windchill, -23F. That was the first winter I had my car, and found out the dealer had the radiator filled with fresh clean WATER instead of antifreeze. I don't know how it didn't break any seals, but it was actually fine somehow.
A view from any mountain peak is majestic though depending on your choice an urban landscape or natural landscape is better. I'd like to see Kogasauthors original photo of this (I'm sure he took one). Also I share his feeling for it.

During the convention...They're opening up that ropeway service again starting today.Seriously!?The temperature's freezing, but it was worth coming up to see thiiiis!
