Lilith tag clean up

Posted under General

Thanks, I was thinking of going through and doing that in the future but didn't feel like it at the time. I've updated the wiki page.

Since those two images are tagged original I'd hazard a guess that 'lilith' is the artist name?

When people make vast sweeping changes to the tags without discussing it first, my report-finger itches. On top of that, this change was based on a lie, since the Lilith from Darkstalkers has twice as many posts as the Lilith from Yamibou. And now, when you search for "Lilith", you aren't even notified that the tag is ambiguous. What were you thinking?

It appears Darkstalkers Lilith she has a full name however (if the wiki is right), and thus wouldn't be in the Lilith tag anyway.

The tag should still be ambiguous though.

Only about 8-10 images with the Lilith tag were from dark stalkers, all the rest were under the Lilith_Aensland tag. Additionally I just didn't think to make the tag ambiguous (which I should have), but honestly it isn't the hardest thing in the process to do and can be done in a matter of seconds so getting so riled up over it to me is a bit excessive.

All in all I only moved around 30 images around. Broken down it was about 10 images of Darkstalkers Lilith, 8 or so images of Lilith from Evangelion (all these were given the Lilith tag by one person), 7 images of Lilith from beatmania (there was already another existing tag for this character), 4 images of a Lilith that seemed a original creation, and 1 image tagged Lilith from Altelier Iris.

You can further break it down as:
15-17 images that already had a separate character tag and so were improperly tagged
13 images which were moved.

I don't know. I've typically been a supporter that the most represented character of a character tag should be allowed to take the name tag, though I guess it's only a short term solution since the character who leads in number of images will inevitably change over time. Additionally I guess it is setting up for a huge hassle when in the future another character overtakes the original holder of the name.

So how exactly should ambiguous character tags be used?

...in the end though whether or not one character is given the tag, it will still end up becoming a dumping ground for images from new people who don't know better, people too lazy to look up how the tag is being used, and people too lazy to properly use the correct tag.
