derivative_work tag on visual art derived from literary works?

Among the handful of veebu art I've been uploading recently are two particular pictures — post #1819124 and post #1860506 — which are both based on text fanfiction (as linked in the artist commentary). Would the derivative work tag apply to either of these posts?

That's just plain fanart, not a derivative work.
