create alias pearl_bracelet -> bead_bracelet
How are you able to visually tell the difference between pearls that are melded together versus beads that are threaded through a hole?
Furthermore, I thought that pearls were a type of material used for making bead jewelry. If we had pearl bracelets, then wouldn't we need other tags for other materials like gold, silver, glass and so on? Therefore, any material making the jewelry is highly subjective. Bead bracelet, on the other hand, is an easily objective tag.
EDIT: Realized you were arguing about the pearl -> beads alias, but I will make this point anyway.
-1 to both aliases.

Pearls tend to be a distinctive silvery-white. Depending on the artist's technique, they may appear to have an opalescent lustre. The visual difference between pearls and ordinary beads is fairly significant; otherwise, how could pearl necklace stand at over a thousand posts as it does now?
I'm not sure what you mean by "melded together". Pearls are usually, but not always, hung on a string like beads.

We already have material-specific tags like gold chain and leather jacket, so it's not like this is unprecedented. Pearl is common enough in jewelry to be of value as a tag, I think. And if anyone were to create tags for jewelry made from other materials, I wouldn't have a problem with that.
As for the pearl -> beads alias, that wouldn't make sense at all in the case of post #2197962 or in any other situation where pearls aren't strung together (e.g. pearl earrings).

I believe pearl necklace has 1000+ posts because bead necklace either didn't exist or was poorly populated.
Sure, there are material-specific tags like you mentioned, but those are visually easy to distinguish. For instance, it's easy to tell the difference between a gold chain and a silver chain because of their colors, and leather jacket is already a popular style of jacket that's easily recognizable. How the hell are you supposed to visually tell the difference between pearl, glass, silver, diamond, or similar whitish materials, especially when the beaded jewelry is faint and hard to see at times in some images?
Let's use post #2464083 as an example of a bead bracelet. Try telling me what material it's made out of, 'cause I sure can't tell you. All I see are a bunch of beads wrapped around her wrist.
Now if you were to counter with a high-quality image of someone wearing what is very, very obviously a piece of jewelry made out of pearl beads, then perhaps I could change the alias to an implication since beads made out of pearls would be a subset.
