Discussed somewhat on Discord (link), but basically the idea is to clarify the usage of gym shorts, boyshorts, and what are known as dolphin shorts (source: Wikipedia - dolphin shorts).
I've been tagging the shorts such as in post #3864090 as gym_shorts, however as I understand it those are actually dolphin shorts.
Many users have been tagging those same types of shorts as boyshorts, however that is also mixed in with boyshort panties such as post #3529525.
The following is my initial proposal for changes.
Gym shorts
Will be more in line with with something like post #3896864, i.e. solid lines on the waistline and hemline and no ribbing on the hemline or sides, with solid colors and the potential inclusion of vertical stripes on the sides.
Examples:
Boyshorts
These will follow the dolphin shorts image profile, i.e. curved hemlines with ribs on the bottoms and/or sides, and sometimes with notches where the side ribs join the hem ridge, usually with solid and differing colors for the shorts and the ribs.
Examples:
Boyshort panties
These will be the panties version of boyshorts. Unlike dolphin shorts, these are always skintight, do not need to have ribs, are usually much shorter, and can have solid or curved hemlines. These can also be completely solid patterned or other patterned, much akin to regular panties.
Final
The reason why the term boyshorts is used for dolphin shorts above is because the term dolphin shorts is relatively unknown, and the prevalence of calling dolphin shorts boyshorts on Danbooru is already pretty high and is the more common occurrence of that usage.
Thoughts?
