So this is a problem I noticed yesterday when tagging a Tales of Xillia 2 post, and I was wondering what the best way to go about fixing it was. This post contains spoilers, so beware.
Milla Maxwell is a character from Tales of Xillia. In the first game, she looks like this. Crop top, short skirt, crossed body support straps, easy. Tales of Xillia has a sequel, aptly named Tales of Xillia 2. In Tales of Xillia 2, she looks like this. White dress with blue accents. Still pretty easy.
Now let's introduce ''Milla Maxwell''. She looks slightly different then the first two images I liked, but not enough. You could think she's just an alternate costume or something of the character I talked about above. But despite sharing a name, she isn't the same. See, Tales of Xillia 2 has a concept known as fractured dimensions. They're basically just canonical alternate universes. This design of Milla is from a fractured dimension. She shares a bit of backstory with X1 Milla, but that's it. Her personality is quite different being more tsundere then X1 Milla's kuudere. Her interests are different. The way she manuevers through the interpersonal relationship of the party is different. Her methods of attacking when she's in your party is different. Her status screen is different. Hell, even the way she dies is different from how X1 Milla "dies" in Xillia 1. Not to mention it kicks off the major part of the second half of the game's plot.
With all that out of the way, let me get to the meat of the post. Milla Maxwell has 730 posts at the time of writing. 75 posts of that include X2 Milla, so about 10% of the tag. How should I approach tagging for X2 Milla?
- Should we keep the tags for X1 Milla and Alt Milla together? (It's pretty obvious where I fall on this, but I'm interested in if other's disagree with me and why.)
- If not, how should we refer to Alt Milla in tags?
- The common fandom way to refer to her is alternate_milla_maxwell. I know we don't often refer to characters by fandom names, so probably not this one.
- How about milla_(tales_of_xillia_2)? I wonder if that wouldn't confuse people who are referring to X1 Milla's blue and white X2 costume above.
- How about just milla, or is that not narrowed down enough?
I've never retagged for a character like this before, so I'd appreciate any opinions. Thanks!
