Etiquette for changing check_translation to translated

I'm relatively new to the site and made an account to start doing some translations. I've read up on the guides, but I have a question. If I check a post tagged "check_translation" and agree with the previous translator's work, is it sufficient to simply delete the tag and add the "translated" tag, or is there some etiquette to this e.g. posting a comment that says "double-checked the translation, great job"?

If you are confident in that person's translation, you do just that: delete the tag and add "translated". But only if you're confident and sure.

Just remove the tag if there are no obvious problems. The onus is on the translator to point out what needs to be checked.

Check translation has the same problem as tagme, in that some people slap it on everything and other users aren't confident enough to remove it.
