When is it appropriate to flag a post for deletion?

Is it appropriate or necessary to flag a post for deletion when it's an obvious violation? Or is better to let it time out and auto-delete after 3 days (I'm assuming they auto-delete)?

I know some posts really need to have as short a stay as humanly possible, like the otaku-dick post a while back [shudder], so it might be good to call attention to those. Otherwise I'm wondering if it would create unnecessary work for mods & janitors.

I wasn't able to find anything regarding this in the help pages or elsewhere in the forum--let me know if I missed it.

I don't think its possible to flag images that are pending approval, since they're already in the mod queue.

You can. Or at least you're able to write a reason. I don't know if it actually gets flagged when you click OK.

I actually see things in the queue before I see things that are flagged, so I don't think it makes a difference.

IIRC, if it's still in the mod queue, the image will be "approved" when it's flagged. It's probably best to let it die in the mod queue.

This bug was fixed quite a while ago.

It was? I was gonna mention that myself, actually. I just didn't know if it still worked like that.

Ah--I see. I didn't know the mechanics of it. That answers my question. I've only ever seen one specimen where I really wanted to flag it, and it was gone in a heartbeat anyway. Thanks.
