old fan translated names and typos/shortened names -> official names
Personally, I think some would be better as an alias instead of rename. A lot of people still know "Black Dragon's Chick" as "Red-Eyes Black Chick", as it took way too long for the card to be renamed in TCG (I believe there are plenty of users interested in Yu-Gi-Oh that may not be in touch with current TCG). "Curran" and "Pikeru" could be aliases too, it's their names without their titles, and their tags were named like that in Danbooru for a long time.

ok, i'll change those 3 and anymore you think should be an alias instead. Also what do you think should be done with ki-sikil and lil-la since their live/evil twin forms are 2 different cards but right now they share 1 tag

Surely it is a more complicated case, and with similar cases we usually tag accordingly to the card only. Taking from example Gishki Emilia: the character have several different forms, like Dance Princess of the Nekroz, Nekroz of Gungnir, Nekroz of Sophia, etc. Based on this approach, the twins ki-sikil and lil-la would be divided into different tags, accordingly to the card the art is representing. I wouldn't say it's a perfect approach, but it's important for someone to be able to search for the Yu-Gi-Oh cards individually, even if some of them are the same character in-lore. It would be interesting to write in the card's wiki if a card has a direct relation with another, like the wiki of Dance Princess of the Nekroz stating it's the older version of Gishki Emilia.

I think having a base character tag would be good like you suggested since right now people sometimes tag the original card with the variant so it makes it hard to look for pictures of just the original. although it might be a bit hard to do for some cards like the winged dragon of ra and the winged dragon of ra sphere mode

I think the wiki for Nekroz of Sophia would be more appropriate like this: "An alternate form of Dance Princess of the Nekroz combined with Sophia Goddess of Rebirth", as Nekroz of Sophia is based off specifically Dance Princess of the Nekroz instead of her younger and first form, Gishki Emilia. Then, if the users clicks Dance Princess of the Nekroz's wiki, they will see the card's relation to Gishki Emilia. All wikis related to the character could just have a "See also" or "Other forms" section listing the other YGO cards that represent the same character in-lore.
Also a tip, it's always good to check the Yu-Gi-Oh wiki as well, specially the Trivia sections. They often make it clear if a card has a relation to another, specially for cases like this, as Gishki Emilia isn't part of the Nekroz archetype, so it isn't obvious at first that she's actually the same character in-lore as Dance Princess of the Nekroz.

Thanks for the tip about the trivia section on the wiki, i'll get started on a few of them later, probably the duel terminal ones first since they seem to have the most lore.

I just noticed Curran used to be the tag for Curran the yugioh card but at some point got aliased into Curran (dragalia lost) and then someone manually moved the yugioh Curran to another tag. I'm not sure if that alias should be undone or if it matters.
1. Renames are for updating from fan translated -> TCG name 2. the unalias is because there is more than 1 curran and was originally the tag for curran the yugioh card Ebon_Magician_Curran until 9 months ago
