Need some help here

Not that this is a tech forum, but if you want more help you really need to be more specific.

Saying "<object> doesn't work, help" and then giving vague descriptions of what you did in attempt to combat your problem doesn't leave much to work with.

2+ other browsers? Addons, if any? Different computer?

The different computer bit worked, but the first two bits didn't.

As for the whole saying "<object> doesn't work, help" is pretty important, when it's the sole purpose of this website.
I turned all of my add-ons on and off, trying each one alone, and still it didn't help.
I also tried it on lolifox, and internet explorer.

A lot of times larger images refuse to load for me. What I do is right click the original image size link and copy the url. Paste it into the address bar so I get a direct link to the image, works every time.

That sounds like there's something interfering with the pics from this site. If it happens in just one browser, you've probably blocked images. If it happens in others too, it must be some sort of firewall or proxy that's blocking them.

I don't know how you do it in other browsers, but in Opera you can turn off image rendering so the thumbnails show as empty boxes. Then right click and select "open image". Then reload that and you should see some error message from the firewall/proxy.

For future reference:

The first thing you should do is try and open the image directly. Does the web server give you an error code?

The second thing to do is try other browsers, other computers, other network connections if available.

If none of these things give you clues, find someone with access to tracert or traceroute and try seeing whether you can complete a trace, or where the packets are getting dropped. Do the same for the front page to see why HTML pages are going through.

Sometimes when the server is nearing its bandwidth limit images will take awhile to appear. From my understanding this is especially true for people outside the US. This is why I've been playing around with throttling anonymous users.
