Akismet is a fascist

Posted under General

I tried to file a bug report on the Trac today because the wiki URL parser fails on URLs with parentheses (leaves off the right parenthesis; see ibara for an example) but simply could not manage to overcome the spam protection. Akismet decided that my report was spam and it's judge and jury in this case, it seems. Is there any chance the settings could be eased up a little, on that? Or some other method to prevent spam bots implemented?

For what it's worth, I tried to file this issue as a bug too, but it wouldn't have any of it. :/

Eh. Sometimes people don't want the parentheses included in the link. I fixed the link you gave by substituting %28 and %29 for them. Just do that from now on.

Okay, that's one problem worked around; thanks. I always forget about those.

But as for the meat of my post, I'd think that a touch more important. It's sort of bad if bugs can't be added to the tracker and I'm not sure if I'm an isolated incident in this or not. In any case, it's probably something that should be addressed in some manner or another.

My 2PW: the linking system is atrocious. Why can't we just have a system like every other site on the planet? The sheer possibility for undefined behavior is staggering. For one small example, how would you make a link with something that starts and ends with quotation marks?
