There's a ridiculous number of alien tags. Do you really want to imply all of them?
Here's just a few you missed:
Mass Effect: angara, drell, elcor, hanar, salarian & volus
Star Wars: chiss, ewok, gungan, jawa, wookiee & zabrak
Star Trek: borg, klingon, romulan & vulcan
Warhammer 40k: dark_eldar, eldar, orkz, t'au & tyranid
starcraft: protoss & zerg
Dragon Ball: namekian & saiyan
Macross: protodeviln, vajra & zentradi
Others: na'vi, predator & xenomorph
Of course, if you just imply all of them, you run into issues with stuff like post #6272029, cosplaying alien races.

Do the Borg count as aliens? They're effectively cyborgs.
This is the reason I feel like some of these race tags are kinda junk and why we should be pruning alien down to a specific thing rather than using it as a dumb multi-copyright umbrella tag that would be useless to actually find anything. Sure, wookies and whatnot are obvious but throwing saiyans, borg, and many of the canon tags we have for them would make an already dubious tag basically worthless.
Yeah, the alien tag is pretty bad. It should just be deprecated (after creating a tag for sterotypical aliens and whatever else's necessary).
None of these races have anything visually similar between them, they don't need an umbrella tag. Think about it this way: Superman is an alien too, should we start tagging him as such?
