BUR #18118 has been rejected.
create alias plus_sign -> greek_cross
Both are the same-looking symbols. Straight-armed cross with equal arm lengths (+).
It's fine if you will prefer the reverse alias. Despite chose this way because the usage should be applicable outside mathematical context (e.g. the Swiss flag). And to standardize it with the rest of *_cross tags.
I don't think an alias is necessary at all, reverse or this. Just because it's the exact same shape, I don't believe it ought to warrant an alias to cover the other.
Additionally, if one is genuinely looking for the greek cross and not instances of math, I think they ought to be capable of separating it somehow.

This point is only really relevant if people tag that way. In actuality they slap on whatever tag first comes to mind. Does post #6300833 really strike you as "math"?

No, I think plus_sign doesn't belong there at all. Cross_hair_ornament/cross_ornament is enough.
[EDIT]Actually, a ton of the posts tagged plus_sign should be cross tags.

Unless you're willing to filter through it regularly it's likely this will continue to happen. Take a look through the tag: the vast majority of things in it are random crosses with 0 relation to math.
