This tag would be useful for post #6539326 where you can actually see the trails left behind as part of the ornament, compared to the ubiquitous single star hair ornaments. The question is who wants to sift through 22.2k posts and find them. The other two are Genshin and VTubers (go figure), so I wouldn't take that as an indication this tag is bad. What even was the goal of post #6522603? Surely not that sparkle hair ornament...

I would agree with that. It is visibly a shooting star, at least. Maybe I would feel differently if the tag was bigger, but as it currently stands, post #6539326 is an outlier. Also, I did see a star-themed hairclip on one of the chibis in post #6522603.
Low-count compound tags are still useful if the tagged detail is unique and/or searchable enough.
That they are (I mean, sword hair ornament is a thing after all). However, my issue with this tag is that it could easily covered by star hair ornament, as well as the fact that, with the exception of post #6539326, the tag is on starhairclips and not actual shooting star appearing hair ornaments like this tag is presumably intended to hold. If we were to keep this tag, how would we prevent people from adding star-themed hairclips that do not resemble shooting stars beyond the main part of the hairclip?
A shooting star hair ornament could be worth it given how prevalent non-shooting star hair ornament depictions are. Though the current 3 posts under the tag are not ones I'd consider shooting stars, things like post #4873073, post #5445940, and post #3389695 would fit.

This tag is so incredibly small that managing it would be easy, and clearly aside from a couple special users that can be DMailed nobody has the presence of mind to add it to a basic star. I'm ambivalent to an alias because while there may be a lack of sizable proof of concept right now, it would only contribute to the potential 10s-100s of shooting stars in star hair ornament for the foreseeable future.

post #4873073 or the traditional arch shapes would be the ideal for this tag, yes. Though post #6539326 is a bit of a grasp I think we can agree it's meant to depict a shooting star. The other two are simply star-like shapes people got too creative with.
I think I see your point here (as the tag seems to have been created a couple months back). If people are willing to populate this tag and remove the couple hairclip tags currently in there, I'm willing to reject this BUR and instead implicate it to star hair ornament. The star hair ornament tag is pretty big, after all. If people can see value in it, then who am I to stop them?
Well, some people went back and populated this tag and gave it a wiki (as well as removed the couple hairclip posts). So, here's the alternative BUR to implicate it to star hair ornament. Still a pretty small tag, but at least now I wouldn't have thought twice had I saw it in its current form to create this thread. I'm gonna leave the first BUR open just in case anyone else has an argument for an alias as initially proposed. Pick the one you prefer.

The tag has been populated a bit more now, and most of the hairclip posts have been removed. The posts with hairclip still either have additional hairclips or the clip is still recognizable but integrated into the design of the shooting star like with post #986171. With post #3576775 it's a bit harder to see, but the clip has 3 colors and a tail shape similar to something like post #3128928, just more compact.
