Minimum number for character tags?

Posted under Tags

Hi all~

I had a quick question regarding character tags, which is namely whether or not I should attempt to tag all the characters I know, or whether there should be a minimum threshold needed before for a tag to be relevant. As an example, post #6871289 added damien_helbourne, who is actually kind of popular in Fantasy Life fan art (which is kind of obscure), so I made a tag for him (even though he only has 4). Meanwhile post #6871438 also includes Olivia Pescado, Pino, and a Female MC who are all not tagged (and while I could find more art to make them get a few more tags, well... they are illustrating the point of this post in the first place.)

The one that really made me second guess tagging everyone was post #6824890 . While I could identify this person as the Occult Shopkeeper from World of Horror, the fact is that they aren't really that common of a character to draw, so I eventually considered that tagging them as such an unnecessary identification.

And so I come to the wise and gracious tagging community to see determine the general rule of thumb when tagging minor/obscure characters that may not get many tags.

For non-original characters like your example, feel free to create character tags for any characters that you know of. Even one post is enough for them.

In case of artists' OCs instead, two posts is typically the minimum to create a character tag, unless the character has several drawings that haven't been uploaded to Danbooru yet.

Excellent! Thanks for the clarification!
