If we're going to have different colors for each team they should imply base class.

Seems a bit unnecessary to even have these color tags in the first place imo.

I would agree, though I guess if someone was looking for a character in the middle of combat if would be a good way to assure you dont stumble across RED Scout attacking various BLU when looking for BLU Scout pictures.

Ultimately they're about as useful/useless as any other costume tags. If they're going to exist they should be implicated.

I agree that any of these should definitely imply the class, but why not just have color tags be separate? it isn't perfect but it is more feasible. Though arguments could be made for specifics like red spy given meet the spy making him a bit unique...

Alt without the nuke. On the fence about that personally.

I don't think having character tags implicate a gentag is normally how we do it? I can't think of any tags like that. In the case that the color-specific versions of the characters are nuked though I don't mind having a BLU or RED tag for group pictures of the teams. My only issue would be using both on mixed-color pictures turning it into a padding tag for TF2 posts.

It's not. In fact, topic #25591 is about Evazion going out of his way to remove all the old cross-category implications we did have, many of them of this nature. On that ground alone, I know neither BUR is going to pass for that very simple reason.

One of the original two you created to try and solve this issue might though. But I don't really have much an opinion on that due to not being into TF2.

You're both completely right. That was me fucking up some of the technical aspects of the order of which the bur would be implemented system wise. I meant to essentially alias all of them to the class but have the blu/red team tags added first as to not waste that existing tagging. I thought if we just aliased them we wouldn't be able to see which were tagged blu_x red_x and it would be harder to add blu_(tf2) and such to those posts after.

Alternative BUR for people who dont want these tags. Though i dont see the difference between these and Vtuber costume #60 I guess more options in voting are always good.

pocket_medic_(tf2) is a specific accessory, not a costume.

sorry for the bumps 6:00AM posting is rough.

No, wait until one of these is decided on. If the first BUR goes through there is really no need for a bulk RED_team tag since you can search individual REDs.

I added it intentionally because I figured I'd clean up all the excess character tags in one BUR, but I'll remove it since it is a different thing. Pocket medic is just a character doll though, shouldn't it be a gen-tag?

I would think yes, but it seems that the Balloonicorn is also a chartag, which is odd. Probably best as a discussion for another time.

As far as I know technically according to TF2 lore members of the blu team and the red team are different people who just happen to look and act very similar.

Kind of, but it's inconsistent. In the official comics for instance there is only one Spy and one Scout and they are set at the team they are with, we never see two characters of the same class except for the TF1 classics. The official animated videos have characters from the same class but opposing teams interact though it never specifies what the nature of that is. There is some official material that hints at them all being clones of the same people but that's almost certainly a joke.

I think that's all besides the point though. Since currently almost every single post featuring the color tags already has the broader class tag with the exception of cosplay posts like post #309276. That means these tags are either bloat which should be removed or need to be implicated to the tag that they are effectively a costume of.

TF2 is extremely silly and it's likely that all explanations are both right and wrong to some degree. If not actually fully right for some reason, because, again, TF2 is extremely silly.

This does not change the fact that the two teams (four, in some ancient code) are nothing more than palette swaps of each other, especially for tagging purposes. These tags were all made by one person. They're very much padding and it is fairly silly to have an umbrella of all things for two (2) palette swaps.

I think we've gotten a little umbrella-obsessed in recent tagging sprees.
