Tag Suggestion: wrist_garter

Posted under General

Seeing as how it was recommended that I move my tag suggestion to a new thread (forum #28236), I'm now moving this here.

Tag suggestion: wrist_garter

It seems to be a common theme to have a garter-like article of clothing around the wrists -- and I've seen *quite* a few images with them -- but I frankly can't find the proper tag for them. They sure as hell aren't bracelets, and wristband seems too generalized for this type of garment. I think that its style is distinct enough to have its own tag.

So if wrist_garter was used, it would be in the same line as leg_garter and arm_garter. And plus, it just plain-out looks like a garter... except it's on the wrist.

Thoughts?

The wrist_cuffs wiki specifically states:

An accessory worn encircling the wrist, made of material such as fabric, leather, fur, or metal.

For tagging purposes wrist cuffs look like wristbands but with frills and what look like detached cuffs that would be found on a shirt's sleeve.

And those all look pretty frilly to me. :c

I was merely stating how those have been tagged in the past based on personal experience. It's not like I'm the one who wrote that wiki entry. :p

I think it's important to keep in mind that it's ultimately still a cuff on your wrist, though. It's just made of a different material. But if the frilly kind are deemed worthy of having their own tag then that's fine too. Although someone is going to have to go through the ~1300 wrist_cuff posts to sort the frilly ones out.

When I think wrist_cuffs, I think post #471. The frills are a completely different style, and have much less grounding in actual fashion accessories as used in reality.

I've also seen plenty of "traditional"-looking wrist cuffs that have had frills on them, too. Which is what I thought the Wiki covered when it referred to "frills".

And on the other hand, Ultima, I think you're right too; it is still essentially just a wrist cuff. So I'm not really too sure on all this.

Either way, I'd always be in support of an extra tag that'll allow us ribbons&frills fiends to be able to search-up this kind of stuff more easily.

Anyway, anyone have any other thoughts on this?

I have no real strong feeling on either keeping them within the wrist cuffs tag or putting them under wrist garter.

When I made the wrist cuffs wiki and tag it was mostly to differiante between the restraint type cuffs going under the cuffs tag and the type that looked like a sleeve cuff like post #471. Since it was awhile since I wrote that wiki I don't quite recall exactly why I included the frilly type, but I believe it was because of finding that general definition of wrist cuff at the beginning of the wiki and seeing a few labeled as wrist cuff while googling that I decided to toss it in so that that kind would have a tag to go under besides the wristband or cuffs tag. It was awhile later that I made the arm garter tag and wiki, and didn't think of perhaps labeling the frilly kind as wrist garter.

There's a decent argument for separating them, I suppose. I wouldn't really care either way about keeping them under cuffs except for wrist cuffs being tied so closely in my mind to bunnysuits.

Well... whatever, either way. I'm having a hard time forming a strong opinion on this matter.
