Hedgehog ears and tail

mass update hedgehog_ears -> -hedgehog_ears animal_ears
mass update hedgehog_tail -> -hedgehog_tail short_tail

These tags are nonspecific, wrong, and garbage.

The tail design of Sonic and co. is not unique to hedgehogs; the short-tailed shrew and some breeds of dog have similar short, stubby tails. As for the ears, it's even more ridiculous - real hedgehogs do have ears, but they're round. All of the hedgehog characters from Sonic have pointy ears, meaning they are objectively dissimilar to real hedgehog ears.

As mentioned earlier - not all posts in these tags are Sonic. Also, some species of hedgehog do have more pointed ears, such as the long-eared hedgehog, and we have plenty of implicated animal ear/tail tags that you could also argue aren't unique but personally I think aren't harmful to have. I like seeing kemonomimi of more unusual animals, personally, and tagging them as only "animal ears" makes it difficult to find them in a sea of everything else. (Though I suppose there are still hedgehog boy / hedgehog girl if we do eliminate these tags, but that doesn't cover fake animal ears or a hypothetical 1other character.)

the most surprising thing is that in nearly 10 years kemono friends still hasnt made a hedgehog girl to ruin the tag for us

(I was shocked by this too)

While some might have more pointed ears (which, by the way, are still rounded), the majority of hedgehogs have round ears. This would be like if our cat_ears tag was full of round ears because "some species of cats have round ears".

Canon ear tagging is something where we kind of have to just throw our hands up and go "ah well", because even though cats, wolves, foxes, and some dogs have the same basic pointy ear shape, they're extremely popular animals to make humanoid characters of. Hedgehogs, on the other hand, are not. A whopping 96% of the 1668 hedgehog_ears posts are Sonic characters, and two-thirds of the other 66 posts are the Able sisters from Animal Crossing. Of the remainder, there are only two original posts. And just in case you were wondering, there are only three posts for hedgehog_tail that aren't Sonic or Animal Crossing.

You are right though; we do need a way to find those posts, which is why hedgehog_boy and hedgehog_girl exist, despite their similarly overbearing amount of Sonic posts. However, we do not need three tags for the exact same purpose. The ear and tail tags are just padding and need to go.

In that case, I think that's fair.

So? bear tail, panda tail, rabbit tail are just a fluffy ball, or goat tail, deer tail, sheep tail are just short and pointy. That's life, two visually similar things can come together with two conceptually different things.

Just for comparison, right now 5 of the first 10 raccoon_tail images are mario in his tanuki_costume, someone thought that this alias would be a good idea. Okay, this situation is very rare, there are 36 tanuki marios for 10k raccoon tail images, still it is _worse_ than if tanuki tail were its own tag.
