The reason you can't shake off that feeling is because it is weird to tell people this. I think we should use tags like disney_(company) and nintendo_(company) for posts explicitly referencing said companies, which would then allow users to actually find what they're looking for when they search disney or nintendo.

Because of this disconnect between what our users want and expect, and what we decided should be the case instead, Nintendo is and has always been one of the most mistagged tags on the site. It is constantly being gardened because of this, and at some point it makes you wonder - are we so out of touch? Because personally, I don't think it's the users who are wrong.

I'll insist that they are, moreso because alongside (as it currently stands) misusing those tags, it's frequently the case that the users who tag them incorrectly will also use that as the only copyright tag for a post. At the very least, that's been my experience gardening Disney. Attempting to check the Post History for Nintendo posts causes a timeout, so I cannot fully confirm whether that applies there too.

Implying some copyrights that revolve around the franchise's characters/universe to the main franchise tag. I left out The Sorcerer's Apprentice because I'm less sure about it specifically, I know it features Mickey but I'm not sure if it'd fall into the same camp as these?

Other than that, it should be fairly straightforward.

I wonder whether Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros are needed. The former largely consists of Donald Duck Boner (meme), with the remaining two posts that aren't that not seeming to reference the anthology film named at all, while the latter doesn't seem to be about the anthology film named at all and appears to just be a group copytag for Jose Carioca, Panchito Pistoles, and Donald Duck when he's with those two.

I have no qualms with doing away with them. I'll separate them out into their own BUR.

BUR #40877 has been rejected.

mass update ~the_three_caballeros ~saludos_amigos -> mickey_mouse_&_friends
nuke saludos_amigos
nuke the_three_caballeros

Alternatively. As Damian said, the Saludos Amigos tag is mostly just for Donald Duck Boner (meme), and the latter tag is used more as a catchall tag for the trio than referencing specifically the anthology film. Do these two characters really need a copytag to themselves?

Technically the implication in the other BUR would be backwards, they debuted in Saludos Amigos first.
