Pastoral Tag?

Posted under General

I recently noticed that we don't really got a tag for pastoral or "cottagecore" asthetics at the moment. Which is a darn shame, as I see them quite a bit in my uploads. Lately started organizing a favgroup, but I'm not great at wiki writing, and honestly clothing asthetics are not my strongsuit. I just think there's honest value in being able to search for pastoral asthetics.

What do you guys think? And what should be the ground rules for the asthetic tag, if so, according to people more familiar with it than a mere hunch?

Tags for fashion aesthetics exist. Goth fashion, Lolita, Punk, etc. Slice of life also recently got converted into a tag. Pastel colors and Neon palette are also aesthetics. I think aesthetics are generally objective enough to be tags rather than pools, and are also something more likely to be searched than i dunno stanchion.

Yeah, this is what I mean. This hypothetical would fall under the category of fashion aesthetic. I feel like its objective enough to be a taggable concept, personally. I just...Don't really know the steps to making one of these tags lol.

Oh, I see your favgroup now. My bad, I missed the part where you said it was a clothing aesthetic, the term cottagecore had me thinking it was more of a scenery aesthetic than fashion, in which case I agree rural would have a lot of overlap. I think everything in your favgroup probably falls under an existing subset of lolita fashion, but I'm not familiar enough with it to know which preexisting term would be correct.

No big deal. Just wanted to run this through people who know fashion better than me before doing anything.

I have no issue, I'm always glad to see more tags for fashion. You can see wghat exists at tag group:fashion style. The closest is probably mori kei, but that's a much more specific style and has more of a foresty vibe. There is a bit of overlap with classic lolita based on your favgroup, but I don't think it's enough to make the tag redundant.

Yeah, main issue is figuring out what "category" it'd go under. Doesn't surprise me about the overlap with classic lolita lol, considering the asthetic there is similarly based on more "old-timey" clothes (though classic lolita tends to be based more on classic Victorian gowns and what not, fitting of its roots there, whereas "pastoral" tends to be based more on rural outfits), but I need to find more posts to solidify what I'm after before making any judgements. I usually consider it taggable if I can find a hundred posts like what I'm after. Also, because that gives the people voting a considerable amount of variety to see what the hypothetical tag would encompass, and allow for people with more experience to step in and say something if they think the range is too broad or narrow.

Also, I never realized Aino Mito's magical girl outfit is mori kei. The more you know, and things to remember if I ever go out hunting for fanart of the "Bye Bye See You Tomorrow" trio like I'm sometimes tempted to.
