Blindfolds

BUR #42396 has been rejected.

mass update (white_blindfold or red_blindfold or purple_blindfold or blue_blindfold or pink_blindfold or green_blindfold or yellow_blindfold or grey_blindfold or orange_blindfold) -blindfold -> blindfold
nuke white_blindfold
nuke red_blindfold
nuke purple_blindfold
nuke blue_blindfold
nuke pink_blindfold
nuke green_blindfold
nuke yellow_blindfold
nuke grey_blindfold
nuke orange_blindfold

All colours of blindfolds given white_blindfold or red_blindfold or purple_blindfold or blue_blindfold or pink_blindfold or green_blindfold or yellow_blindfold or grey_blindfold or orange_blindfold is only 1573 posts, less than 1% of blindfold's posts itself at 23924. Superfluous colour tagging as usual, so here's the expected counter BUR to get rid of those tags. I'm opting not to touch torn blindfold and lace-trimmed blindfold for now as they are distinctly taggable parts of an image that may be the focus of it.

I won't make an alternative BUR that creates a colored blindfold tag because there's pretty clearly lack of interest in one. You can try it if you think otherwise.

BUR #42424 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

nuke white_blindfold
create alias red_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias orange_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias yellow_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias green_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias blue_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias purple_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias pink_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias brown_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create alias aqua_blindfold -> colored_blindfold
create implication colored_blindfold -> blindfold

Just so there's at least the option to vote on if people want this. Same way colored eyepatch was done for the sake of consistency (-black blindfold since there's an above BUR for that).

Just my two cents, but black_blindfold has nearly 10k posts, roughly 40% of all blindfolds. If I'm the one searching, that's useful. It partitions the set neatly; it's neither a negligible portion nor a vast majority. Getting rid of the spurious colour tags makes sense because they're inconsistently applied across relatively few posts making them borderline useless for searching. Getting rid of the black tag doesn't since it's consistently applied across many posts. I'd say that getting rid of the black blindfold tag is a bad idea because of how much information it destroys. I don't care as much whether the colour tags get nuked or aliased, since they're used so infrequently either way, but aliasing them is a better way to preserve the information that they contain, as together they do account for roughly 5% of the set.

Note that even if you do want to be rid of black_blindfold, for a tag that widespread, nuking seems like, well, a pretty nuclear option! I'm surprised people are so on board with it. You could always deprecate instead.

Also, 3/4ths of the tag are a single copyright (NieR (Series) is worth 6K posts of its current 9K). It was already acknowledged as a potentially useless tag for this exact reason back when the implication request was submitted per the forum topic I linked (or you can directly check it here: forum #147317).

The intention of deprecation is to prevent it from being added while tag gardeners replace the tag with a more fitting alternative. The end goal of all deprecations is to nuke the tag. Sometimes you can just go directly to a nuke instead if there's no alternative that needs to be gardened. I'm not deprecating them now but if this gets accepted and blindfold colour tagging starts again, then that's when deprecation is useful to stop it from being added again and defying the results of the BUR.
