Madoka Magica group tag question

Is there any reason we don't have a "Holy Quintet" tag? It seems like a group tag people people would want, when all 5 of the main magical girls are in a single illustration in their transformed versions.

Given the fact that holy_quintet seems to have never been recorded ever on Danbooru, something suggests that those uploading or searching for Madoka content didn't seem to care as much for it, whether it be back when they were the only major characters or now when there's more characters thanks to Magia Record.

Frankly speaking, you could probably get away with making the tag and people will probably use it solely because it exists now. The thing that's stopping its existence is probably just lack of interest in tagging it to begin with.

I'd say there's no harm in using such a group tag for their untransformed selves either, I think when most people refer to HQ they just mean them as a group no matter if they're transformed or not.

The fandom uses them in magical girl outfits.

As someone who has been into Madoka Magica for over a decade, I'm pretty sure there's no such distinction. Main characters of Madoka Magica the anime = HQ. That's how people are using it.

Well I think otherwise and if you google / bing this you always get them in fighting stances in their magical girl forms. If you want to make a separate holy quintet tag for base form feel free to do so.

I personally don't think the distinction really matters. All 5 girls together in an image should get the tag in my opinion, regular or magical girl form.

As for the tag itself, I don't really care if it gets made or not. It's a decent concept I can see people searching for, especially with all the spin-offs these days (most notably Magia Record).

Note how they aren't transformed in any of these posts. And I just think that if this tag is to exist then it should be used for group pictures of HQ in general, transformed or not. I linked these just for ease of access but you could also go to any Madoka Magica-adjacent Discord server, search "HQ" or "quintet" there, and you'll also see it's not only being used for when they're in their magical girl form.

Over 200 posts in that search wouldn't apply (or are mistagged)

Magireco groups like post #8015642 are fairly common.

Momoe Nagisa is also sometimes included together with the rest of the HQ, making those posts 6+girls.

Magireco groups like post #8015642 are fairly common.

The kaname_madoka 5girls search has almost 3000 posts in it. 200 false positives is ~6% of that, which is roughly one post per page. This is a perfectly acceptable amount; nobody's going to be frothing at the mouth because "only" 19 out of the 20 posts on each page are what they're looking for.

Additionally, there are a mere 45 posts also tagged with Magia Record. That's just shy of F/GO's 1% pull rate for 5-stars. Calling this "fairly common" is disingenuous at best.

You can use momoe_nagisa 6+girls to find those. I was worried that everyone posts would drown them out, but it seems there's only 16 everyone posts in that search, half of which seem to be what you'd be looking for anyway.

But it gives you a lot of false positives if you're looking for a line up of them in their magical girl outifts.

I don't want to have to do two separate, unintuitive searches when one could do the job. Neither of those searches would bring up posts like animalization or genderswap (mtf) posts either, that are still HQ-themed but don't feature them as girls.

I think it's tag bloat to have a tag specifically for the main cast. As stated above any of the girl's names + 5girls will bring up comparable posts. Also since someone went and made mahou_shoujo_madoka_magica_(anime) you can just search that + 5girls instead and remove the filler from the search.

To be more precise, in every 14 results there is one false positive.

As a general rule, for danbooru, that's not "perfectly acceptable," that's actually quite terrible. Imagine if you searched for hetero sex and every 14th post was yaoi.

I don't know if that's a far comparison but also mahou_shoujo_madoka_magica_(anime) 5girls is (theoretically) this tag with no false positives.
