BUR #42982 has been rejected.
create alias calico_cat -> calico
Looking at the wiki, they're the same thing. Calico happens to have more uses (almost 2000) while calico_cat is only partway over 200.
Edit: Original post title was alias calico_cat -> calico; I changed it to reflect the way the thread's gone.

Hm. Then here's an alternate BUR in case the above is too contentious? This keeps "calico" as a more widely applied pattern (and also adds the lacking cat implication).

The cat implication probably isn't going to work. Tags like this can be used on things like a personified "calico cat girl", which would not be taggable with cat for what should be obvious reasons. Because of this most animal tags don't implicate the base animal.
Yeah, like Kemo for example though she's just tagged with calico instead of calico cat at the moment.

Alright, one more try in an effort to resolve the issues pointed out with the above two BUR ideas. If calico itself becomes marked as a pattern, that will separate its point more clearly from calico cat while still retaining both tags. The implication will take care of the overlap. There would still be some manual gardening to do afterwards to update cases where calico cats (or cat girls, etc) aren't tagged calico_cat, but I still think that handles the other issues.
