Why loli?

Posted under General

So I've been using the site for a while and I'm wondering, why is the tag loli and not lolicon?

It doesn't really follow the established format. Other tags like
toddler; toddlercon
sister; siscon
brother; brocon

Loli and shota are different for some reason and I can't figure out why. Is there some historical reason why it's this way? There were the *_child tags before and that made some sense then, but those got nuked.

The tags loli and shota are for when the character in question is a loli or shota. They're used as description and have nothing to do with attraction.

-con terms are all about attraction: the character is shown to be attracted to their brother, they're a brocon. Attracted to their sister, they're a siscon. But loli and shota as tags are used as descriptors of characters themselves here, so those don't apply.

But that's not really how it's used here. loli and shota are used when the character is shown in an explicit sexual situation.

This doesnt really line up with how the site handles tcon. But I guess there isnt really an equivalent loli or shota term there.

Brocon and siscon are more like the pedophile tag, covering a character or the subject matter of being obsessed or attracted with a specific target instead of focusing on depictions of sex or sexual imagery.

Toddlercon is the one that's an oddball, but it's also understandable as you can't remove the -con cause then it'd just be toddler or you'd have to use something like toddler_sex which doesn't fully cover everything under the tag.

Using lolicon and shotacon instead of loli or shota would be problematic, as it may cause confusion that the tags include things that should actually be put under the pedophile tag.
