Should I Upload the Source Image if the Existing One Has an MD5 Mismatch but Is Already Approved?

Posted under General

If an image shows an MD5 mismatch and has a bad revision, but has already been approved and received a lot of likes, and the source image has almost the same resolution and size, should I still upload the source image in this case? (I’m worried it might not pass approval)

For example, post #9673201

What's the point of posting the revision if it is a bad revision?

It's in the name and the wiki: has bad revision. A bad revision means the post has been changed but it's a bad change. You should not be uploading bad revisions and the number of upvotes a post has is irrelevant to uploading. Bad revisions are considered duplicates and won't be approved.

Sorry, I didn’t quite get that. The image marked as “has bad revision” wasn’t uploaded by me. As I understand it, I should be able to re-upload the original image, right?

If by "original image" you mean the image currently on pixiv #132999481, then no. It was edited after the original upload to have more censorship, and is therefore a bad revision, and, as mentioned before, it won't be approved.

Oh, I see what you mean now. Thank you for your explanation.
