Gardening the Senran Kagura copyright tags

Posted under Tags

I noticed many of the Senran Kagura chartags are often accompanied by their respective debut game copytags even when there's nothing else pertaining to the game in question. As I understand it, this is not how we should be using copytags. It probably made sense in the past when the games were still new and the characters were only in that game, but most of them are part of the regular roster now and they're still being tagged this way I did it too, but only because I tend to follow how tags are currently used for the most part unless it's obviously wrong.

I'm actually convinced it is wrong, but I know some copyrights have a few exceptions for whatever reason and I want to make sure my thinking is correct before making any sweeping changes.

TLDR: Do the Senran Kagura posts tend to have too many copytags?

BUR #52936 is pending approval.

mass update senran_kagura_new_wave card_(medium) official_art -> -senran_kagura_shoujo-tachi_no_shin'ei -senran_kagura_shinovi_versus -senran_kagura_estival_versus

Since no one gave any answers in the last two months, I'll have to force the issue a bit by BUR. This will go through all of the official card art for Senran Kagura New Wave and remove the tag for the three major games with recurring character debuts, which has sometimes been used to tag posts with those characters even if the images have no actual relation to their respective debut games. As far as I can tell, the New Wave cards don't show anything specifically from the earlier games other than Peach Ball and Peach Beach Splash, and those refer to the outfits (skimpy animal costumes and white swimsuits, respectively), not the characters themselves.

This will not cover all game-unrelated posts with the recurring characters, but if it passes (or if an admin agrees with the premise and gives the go-ahead without passing it), I will consider it as permission to remove the tags for the remaining posts in the same way.
