Sources removed?

Posted under General

A few days ago I wanted to upload some posts from yande.re (post #10266957 post #10324374) but I saw that they had already been uploaded. Then I realized that those posts have the non-web source tag and, instead of having the URL that sends you to yande.re, something else is written.

Out of curiosity, I went to the uploader's profile to see how many posts with the non-web source tag he had and I was surprised to see the large number of posts he has like this (many of them precisely from yande.re).

Is he removing the sources on purpose (and is it even allowed)? Or is it some error when uploading posts?

Non-web sources are allowed. That said, scans etc. don't materialize out of thin air, so if it's not a self-scan or obtained through some other obscure means (like taking a photo yourself), the file will have come from the web. In cases like scans third-party sources are fine, but you still need to link where the image was obtained from regardless. @EvergreenNights I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but I don't know whether you were notified. Either way, please add actual links for files you didn't make yourself.

Will do. I don't use Discord, though, so if any changes happen to policy, they won't reach me unless they're here.

These should also be tagged third-party source, shouldn't they? As far as I'm aware, none of these digital illustrations or scans from yande.re have that tag. Thinking about topic #16625 et al.

Yeah. This (scans) is also one of the instances where a third-party source is not a problem as long as the source is (reasonably) trustworthy and high quality.
