Bit of a mess here, largely ignored because the relative lack of popularity and the fact that there's like... two other people that upload images from this aside from me. While the tags needing fixing aren't that messy, the actual reasons and way to do so need a lengthy explanation. This is, and I warn you before you waste time, largely pointless. As I said before, the tags aren't popular, so this is essentially me wasting your time because I'm anal retentive about keeping things neat. I repeat, this is about fixing obscure tags nobody looks up.
Many of BoF II's names were changed in the translation not so much because of americanization (In fact, not only the translation was overly literal, the original Japanese names were mostly ENGLISH puns) but because of limitations in the amount of letters available. Some, though not all, of the names of party members remained unchanged.
All but two characters are only referred to by their first names during the actual game. They all in fact have full name and surname, yet the majority only appear in the credit rolls. To make things weirder, when translating the credits, Capcom romanized all names exactly as they appeared... even the ones they had changed in the game, so even though they changed Deis to Bleu in the game, she appeared as Deis in the credits. These credits also happen to be the only official (English or otherwise) romanization of the original names.
To add up, there are a couple of minor blunders or inconsistencies in a few romanizations that Ryusui, the guy in charge of the BoF2 retranslation, brought up and makes some good points on.
I'll list the alias suggestions first, then the stupidly lengthy rationale for each one:
bow_(breath_of_fire)->bosch_doggy
bosche_doggy->bosch_doggy
Alternatively, just bow_(breath_of_fire)->bosche_doggy
jean_(breath_of_fire)->ekaru_hoppe_de_pe_tapeta
ekaru_Hoppe_de_pe_Jean->ekaru_hoppe_de_pe_tapeta (Optional and likely unnecessary, for the sake of cleaniness, probably never likely to come up)
katt->linpoo_xiuan
rinpoo_chuan->linpoo_xiuan
This can be controversial; alternatively, a safer, better-known choice would be simply katt->rinpoo_chuan
Ryu_I->Ryu_(breath_of_fire_i)
Ryu_II->Ryu_Bateson
Ryu_III->Ryu_(breath_of_fire_iii)
Ryu_IV->Ryu_(breath_of_fire_iv)
Ryu_V->Ryu_1/8192
Nina_i->Nina_Wyndia_(breath_of_fire_I)
nina_ii->Nina_Wyndia_(breath_of_fire_II)
nina_iii->Nina_Wyndia_(breath_of_fire_III)
nina_iv->Nina_Wyndia_(breath_of_fire_IV)
nina_v->Nina_(Breath_of_fire_v)
First of all, I'd like to re-emphasize that there is no accessible official romanization for the full names aside from what appears in the credits.
It actually seems like each tag has its own personal issue:
Bow (Bow_(breath_of_fire)) appears as Bosche_Doggy in the credits. This is perfectly fine, but it's also a slight inconsistency... backwards. How? A character in BoFV has the exact same name and race as him, as well as starts being the best friend and partner of the protagonist (same role) though they develop in completely different ways later. The character in V is romanized as "Bosch" in all versions, meant likely as a reference to the BoFII character, that's why Ryusui is going with Bosch_Doggy in his version. While it's a fix of an inconsistency in a latter game, I'd think it makes good enough sense. The alias I'd suggest would be both bow_(breath_of_fire) and bosche_doggy to bosch_doggy And yes, the dog guy is called Doggy, if you think that's corny, check the next one.
Spar->aspara_gus. Changed likely due to character limit. Aspara is the name he goes by in the game, Gus is the surname revealed in the credits. Asparagus. He's a plant. Gah.
Jean (jean_(breath_of_fire)) is a bit simpler. His original name is Tapeta. His full name is Ekaru_Hoppe_de_pe_Tapeta. However, he is one of the two characters who introduces himself by his full name in the game, rendered as Ekaru_Hoppe_de_pe_Jean. The logical would be to alias jean_(breath_of_fire) (And if you're anal retentive, his full English name too) to Ekaru_Hoppe_de_pe_Tapeta.
Katt is the worst, especially since she has two tags here. She's probably the only severe case of "it looks too asian" since through the game she is referred to simply as "L/Rinpoo". Her name in the credits is Rinpoo_Chuan (Her other tag here). There's a bit more though, Ryusui makes the second connection with BoFV through the other catgirl party member, Lin, which is why he goes with "Lin"poo and notes that the name looks more like it'd be the faux chinese "Linpoo_Xiuan" and Capcom just messed that up. I have absolutely no knowledge of mandarin chinese, so I'm wholly taking his word for it.
The final (thank god) fixes involve almost all games. The protagonist and heroine, Ryu and Nina always have homonymous counterparts in each game. Danbooru has them listed not by using proper game suffixes, but by simply sticking a number after the names (e.g. Ryu_I)
Ryu_ii is peculiar. He is the only one of the homonymous main characters to ever get a full proper name: Ryu_Bateson. No quirky issues here. The only other Ryu with a full "name" is the fifth, which would be Ryu_1/8192. Explaining the number would take too long, but (almost) everyone in the game has a number like that included in their official names.
Finally, all the Ninas but the fifth are called Nina_Wyndia.
