Reason: It's the correct name. Holland is a region in the Netherlands, and the character is meant to represent the whole country.

It was an ex region yes (history stuff add here which you can research yourself). Officially the entire country is indeed called: The Netherlands. But yea many people all over the world call it Holland as well. Even Japanese people call it 'Oranda'.

Yes, well, this is English fandom and we're not Jfen. Even the LJ comm, which is pretty much the biggest gathering of the English-speaking side of Hetalia fandom, uses "Netherlands" in tagging -- and the fandom isn't exactly known for its stellar adherence to historical accuracy.

No. Danbooru is not "fandom". And not that it matters one iota anyway, you should cite your sources when you claim that some livejournal community is "pretty much the biggest gathering of the English-speaking side of Hetalia fandom", whatever that means.

The japanese name is oranda which refers to both netherlands and holland but within the manga the character makes references to the whole of netherlands, I guess. I just looked it up earlier to verify that this was correct.
