Partially approved sequential pools

Posted under General

I'd like to hear opinions on this.

Sometimes sequential pools stop getting approved at some point, or end up with holes when a part of them randomly reaches the other end of the mod queue, apparently amid general indifference.

Hopefully we agree that sequential pools have a lot less interest when incomplete.
I can understand that sometimes the content is such that not approving anything from the start would have been better, while flagging everything that got approved seems excessive regarding how flagging tends to be used.

I don't think half dead pools are the convenient solution to this issue though.
Member level users are unaware of the missing posts until it's stated in some comment or in the pool's description.
Fairness to uploaders mightn't be a valid concern, but perhaps fairness to translators is another story.

So, I think new posts should be granted an increasing weight for approval as the sequential pool they belong to grows. Ongoing translating work on such pools should grant bonus points as well.

By no means this should be an encouragement to post mediocre comics, and even less for people who rely on danbooru's translators when posting scans.

The whole idea to this is do we consider approving posts which complete an already existing sequence to be a no-brainer or not.

If we agree on that, then posting appeals for such posts in a separate thread might also be a good thing.
We're talking about a ridiculous minority of appeals, but it's still doing nothing good for anyone when there're more appeals to review. When appealing for the sake of a pool's completion you're not even asking for a review in the first place, so these cases should be allowed to skip this step and make the deletion appeal thread lighter.

The above paragraph is just an extra, but I'm suggesting it because we've had such appeals recently, which to me look like no-brainers, and yet nobody seems to give a damn about them, possibly because they're drowned in floods of other appeals that no one even wants to look at.

Once again, having half-dead pools is kind of absurd, especially when they're entirely translated, and I see no compelling reason not to approve the rest other than because janitors+ couldn't be bothered to.

That's what we do already. As long as the appealing user states they're a part of a pool with previously approved posts, they will generally get approved with no problems. I only skip pooled appeals when they're extraordinarily boring and I really don't want to choose between approving them or deleting the rest, or when I'm in a hurry and don't have the time to do it.
