Do we even really need this tag? The only point I can see is for characters typically have their eyes closed all the time, but don't in this image. Most of the images in those tags don't seem to depict that at all (then again, I don't know all of the characters from the tags).
I was thinking the same thing, though 5 out of the 12 eyes_open tags depict Nunnally Lamperouge, the 1 open_eyes image depicts Takeshi (aka Brock) from Pokemon. The rest though are mostly tagged by one individual, and one case I can somewhat understand (post #594381) since it has one character with closed eyes and the other with open eyes.
I think if the tag is used for character who regular don't have their eyes open, it'd be an ok tag. There are at least a few characters this tag would be relevant to.
Yeah, let's have this as one of those "alternative to canon" tags like young and alternate_hairstyle. It just needs a wiki and more thorough application and I think it could be a pretty neat tag.
As for which... uh I guess it doesn't matter. Aliasing to open_eyes for now since it sounds slightly a little better to me. But I really don't care which so if you guys prefer the other way, let me know.
For what it's worth, closed_eyes is aliased to eyes_closed.

Which are you bumping, open or closed? Open is already taken care of (see a few posts above).
I'll reverse the closed_eyes -> eyes_closed alias for consistency.
Edit: oh jeeze, theres like 17k. It'll take a little while to finish running.
