Tag Implication: pokemon_(qualifier) -> pokemon

Posted under General

It made sense to me to provide potential context for whatever is depicted in any given Poké-post, and perhaps make searches for everything that falls under them easier than some tag -tag setup. Since the amount of posts that have been identified for those two splits rivals pokemon_special, I feel they're valid, and while special has more exclusive character tags (and designs) under its umbrella, I could argue that those specific tags would make a sub-series tag less necessary for those posts, unlike _(game), _(anime), or just plain pokemon, which would need a more discerning eye for anyone who's [dis]interested in one canon or another.

...or something like that. After all, incest gives context to an image that may otherwise be vanilla, so why deny such distinction for the variant characterizations (official or fan-applied) of similarly designed Pokémon characters? It's only two tags (unlike my horribly branching character round-up).

Tags like incest are also very controversial since they can't be visually verified, and we've had many calls in the past to purge tags like that.

My concern here is that this system is not going to be followed in the future. Most people don't read the forums or wiki,and are just going to tag everything Pokemon. I guess you could take it upon yourself to keep everything gardened nicely...

And why did you split up the Pokemon tags after jxh2154 said not to split up the Pokemon tags?

This was actually something else. It was random, needless qualifiers. He never said anything about splitting it as far as I remember.

Geh, yeah, T5J, I specifically said that splitting game and anime apart wasn't necessary.

It's not the worst idea in the world, but if we're going to do this you would need to commit to maintaining it. Especially if a game or anime only character or concept makes the jump to the other medium at some later date. Otherwise it's just going to fall apart.

I check Pokemans every time I'm on, and I get on about every day, perhaps with a day of lapse. There's still some characters to check for distinctions, and some that I haven't been able to determine, but it's something I can prolly keep up with.
