If it is a sub-type, then shouldn't it be implicated instead of aliased? Also, if something like post #666543 qualifies for cutoff_jeans, then it doesn't seem like it should be implicated (or aliased).

Of course you are correct. I thus would go along with implication... but then the asymmetricality really throws a wrench in the works. So until we find a solution, are we looking at manual addition of denim_shorts where symmetrical cases exist?
I was just thinking that according to the denim shorts wiki, cutoffs is aliased to the former. As I am currently using the cutoff jeans tag, I am thinking that all cutoffs are denim shorts, but not all denim shorts are cutoffs. Does anything need to be changed?
I actually think it'd be better to have the tag not fall under denim_shorts, and instead cover the "cutoff" appearance, and thus include even jeans one_pantsleg in which there is clearly the "cutoff" depiction (which appears to be all of them).
The "cutoff" look isn't limited to shorts, there are things like post #73085 (denim skirt) which can exist too. So I think a broader definition for the tag would be the better direction to go.
