Tools Tag Implications and Aliases

Posted under General

Just unifying the tool related implications and aliases proposed by Anelaid into one thread, so that discussion related particularly to the tools tag is not fragmented.

Alias tools -> tool (forum #14788)

Reason: The current alias is the reverse, however, I feel that tools can often be found alone and it seems weird to implicate tools, such as shovels and pickaxes, to the plural in all cases when they are in the singular.

Implicating hoe -> tools (forum #67234)
Implicating pickaxe -> tools (forum #67232)
Implicating shears -> tools (forum #67238)
Implicating shovel -> tools (forum #67237)

Reason: the former is a type of the latter.

Perhaps create alias shear -> shears as well?

Aliasing pick_ax -> pickaxe.

Reason: aliases
create alias pick_axe -> pickaxe
create alias pick-ax - > pickaxe
create alias pick-axe -> pickaxe
create alias pickax -> pickaxe

It might be worthwhile to point out forum #30092 for the tools -> tool alias. The definition of the tools tag may have changed since the previous thread though.

Tools has been expanded to include things that are usually singular. Seeing a single screwdriver and tools is a weird combination in practice.

None of these tags actually exist, and pickaxe is, as far as I am aware, the only correct spelling for this term.

pick_axe, pick_ax, pick-ax were all in use in the past.

post #963019 with its pool of blood looks more like a weapon than a tool.

I only add the tools tag when there's a bunch of various tools in the picture. It's more useful that way IMO.
