Misao Amano confusion

Posted under General

There are two characters named Misao Amano whose pictures are here in Danbooru. One is from Pretty Sammy, the other is the one saying "Mau, mau" from Battle Programmer Shirase. I've already labeled "amano_misao" as an ambiguous tag and made a new tag for Pretty Sammy's Misao Amano ("amano_misao_(pretty_sammy)"). Is this enough or can the other Misao Amano be labelled in a similar way as well?

Well, "same character" in this sense is a bit misleading, because while I guess it's technically true, the context and intent and pretty much everything ele are worlds apart between Pretty Sammy and BPS. BPS is not a sequel or spinoff from Pretty Sammy. In fact I can't find any connection at all beyond the designer.

It's a pretty bizarre case, but bottom line is that calling her "the same character" would be going a bit far at least in any meaningful sense. It makes sense to differentiate, though there are so few pictures it's not a big deal.

This sounds similar to an issue with Kinomoto Sakura that was never really resolved, I remember something about someone saying Clamp characters sharing names or crossing series or something and then everyone kind of forgot about it.

Eh? Well, it seems like the "sakura_hime" tag has been commonly used now for Sakura from Tsubasa Chronicle, though the wiki entry on kinomoto_sakura still says that it is also used to refer to Tsubasa Chronicle for convenience. Maybe this should be updated?

I don't really think "continuity" counts for much when you're talking about Tenchi characters.

I uploaded a comparison pic of the four character designs she's had at post #228475
At one point I had her character designer's web page bookmarked (he's Hayashi Hiroki and aside from creating and directing both Pretty Sammy and Battle Programmer Shirase he also did Battle Athletess) but I guess I don't anymore or I'd provide a link to it. Anyway.
