Aliasing femshep -> commander_shepard_(female).
Reason: I just...really like that term. Plus, it's gotta be shorter than retyping or highlighting commander_shepard.

Huh, dunno why they're not implicated, sooo...
Implicating commander_shepard_(male) -> commander_shepard
Implicating commander_shepard_(female) -> commander_shepard
If you always need to add 2 tags to tag a single character, shouldn't the *_(male) and *_(female) tags be made genereal tags? It messes with the character tag count (again).
Or just use the concrete tags (female and male version) and nuke the abstract commander_shepard tag.
The armor designs between male and female characters, even with the same armor is typically different enough in the series that I don't think there would be an issue of not being able to tell if it was female or male Shepard.
Is there a particular reason that we need both a male and female Shepard tags instead of just the parent and one specific gender version tag? Typically you'd always be able to find most images of the other gender by doing a commander_shepard -commander_shepard_(gender). In cases of both genders being present, I'd image that would qualify for the dual_persona tag and could be found with a commander_shepard dual_persona search.
If you really don't want the male/female tags aliasing to a general commander shepard tag, you could always name them to commander john shepard or commander jane shepard respectively, since those are the default names similar to how Mark Vanderloo Shepard is the "canon" version of male Shepard.
If you see the full suit, yeah it's obvious, which is why I said it probably won't be a real problem. But, given the nature of the game having a customizable protagonist someone might potentially obscure Shepard in a way that makes it ambiguous while still making it obvious that it is Shepard. An over the shoulder view with the helmet on, for example.
I think the only reason people would want both gender versions is because they don't want to validate any particular version of Shepard, but every cover of the game prominently features the male version. So, I wouldn't have a problem getting rid of commander_shepard_(male).
