Tag clarification: spinning vs. twirling. What is the difference?

What is (or should be) the difference between spinning (350) and twirling (48)?
There's no twirling wiki page. The spinning wiki says:

When something is either rotating continuously in 2D (where it just rotates itself) or in 3D (much like a spinning top).

Both tags have posts of people spinning themselves or a separate objects.

A twirl is just a more elegant spin. Kind of the ballet kind of spin.

For the purposes of tagging I'll alias to spinning.
