Just the idea of it has me in fits of giggling madness.

Just original Saber, Nasu didn't want to make king Arthur a girl at first.

Not even close, DeusEx was correct. Takeuchi didn't want his girl in armor design to go to waste so he made Nasu change it. Nasu hated it at first and compared it to genderswapping Guts from Berserk.

What I heard was the suggestion was made not due to design, but due to the fact it was a VN for dudes and thusly playing as a chick and having romances with guys would be weird to play as a man, though now we've got the real Proto-Arthur so we're good lol
