Except it isn't. Depending on the gender of the subject, you change the ending of the adjective.

Der Tag=male -> "guten"

Die Nacht=female -> "gute"

Grammatically, yes. 'Physically'... no.

Grammatical gender is a common feature among most Indo-European languages. Nouns have genders, even for inanimate objects and abstract concepts.

Yeah in spanish is the same "Day = Día" is considered as a "male" word, and "Night = Noche" as female, "El día - La noche"
