Assuming the individual parts were machined before hand, she simply MIG or TIG welded the pieces together. With that said, it makes it even funnier because, with enough manual dexterity, one can make a solid weld that has a "knitted" pattern.

Thinking about it in that way, she would definitely be a keeper I think.

Since muffler is aliased to scarf, and there's not an actual scarf in the image, I changed the tag to car_muffler.

It's a muffler for a motorbike though, at least according to the フルエキ (Furueki) and 手曲げマフラー (Hand bend muffler) tags.
