Infantry I think? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else? The Panzer 4 was meant to handle infantry while Panzer 3 was meant for anti tank warfare but eventurally the two got switched so the Panzer 3 did the anti infantry bit while the Panzer 4 went on taking on tanks, I think. Blast I used to be good at remembering little things about German tanks.

Both the Panzer III and IV fit various roles, usually depending on the cannon fitted...some had stubby guns good for acting more like direct-fire mortars, while some hand the long barrels better for firing AP rounds (StuG!). So, yeah, that's a pretty good summary. I still generally regard them as infantry support tanks anyway, since the heavy tanks were much better suited to brawling.

    Now I remembered something...

the Aus G(?) version of the Pz IV was the one that was facing the tanks while the Aus F(?) was with that short stubby WTF gun. As far as I know, the Pz III was probably involved during the Blitzkrieg attacks for their speed and during the Desert Campaigns. Dunno if it did face Mk VI crusaders or shermans for that latter there.

Historical fact: Jaundice, amoebic dysentery, and assorted nutritional illnesses crippled the German army. While I admire the Desert Fox, the fact is... feces defeated the Germans. The British soldiers were taught to properly dispose of their crap while on campaign, while German soldiers usually defecated on the ground and never ever cared to cover it with dirt. Flies were abundant in the hot environment of the desert and thus, infectious diarrhea ran rampant among the Afrika Korps. Rommel himself became dangerously ill.
