Sturgeon Moon
A term for the August full moon. First known to have appeared in the accounts of American writer Jonathan Carver, who claimed it was used by indigenous North American people without reference to any particular nation or language. If it was ever in genuine use, it does not appear to have survived to any modern dialect.So named because it is the best season for catching full-grown sturgeon.
