Why are people surprise that Marisa can do this? All of her attacks are rip-offs from other characters. Just with her own twist. Now if she figured out how to control time. Then, we have to be worried. No, book will be safe!

agreed, I think her only original spell is that Stardust Reverie, the rest is largely stolen

Love Storm "Starlight Typhoon" - although kinda weird varuation...

And focused shot type - Napalm Missile.

And can orrieries sun can be considered as "stolen" if she's working for said person?

Marisa has adapted the Master Spark into a number of variants. Star Sign "Dragon Meteor", Comet "Blazing Star", Perversion "Sure-Fire Master Spark", to name a few. All of which originate from Yuuka's (and Gengetsu's) original spark attacks from LLS.

And I personally consider Orreries' Sun stolen as Marisa didn't use it in SoEW when you fight her. Instead she took it up long after leaving Mima's tutelage.

Actually She uses the shield version of orrieries sun quite alot.

Amusingly, the author actually basically answers the question explicitly in the untranslated commentary. Marisa took Reimu's spell and ofuda, analyzed them through her own understanding, and recreated a spell that does basically the same thing using basically the same material -- but it's implied that it isn't in fact the same spell. Rather, it's "the original spell, 'in her own words'".

The comment ends with "Marisa is the sort of person that can just do things if she tries, after all."
