The comic seems to be channeling some of the same epic bullshit Saperon went for in pool #1958. ...My view on all this, anyway. Still makes for an entertaining read, though. Thanks for the translations!

Pretty much, yeah. I mean, no one's DIED yet, but thus far it's intentionally minor characters bulked up to, essentially, EX/Phantasm levels. They're not treating every encounter like it's a pushover, but it doesn't make it any less different than the "Batman/Captain America + prep time > anyone" mentality.

Thing is, Batman + prep + the advantage of ambush + terrain advantage is > than almost (note my emphasis on "almost") anyone. You need to basically be a cosmic being to tank everything a prepped enemy can throw at you.

Youki jumped the Scarlet sisters when it was raining, rain he had Rinnousuke set up, and he still barely beat Remilia and Sakuya and lost his sword in the process. The only reason Flandre didn't kill him is because Myouren jumped her from behind with some kind of high-level sealing artifact (note he didn't beat Flandre, just put her somehwere where she can't attack them).

Rinnousuke got a hell of a power-up... and still would have lost to Yuuka if he hadn't cheated by utilizing some kind of poison trap he had built into her umbrella long ago just in case. Now he's using power stolen from Yuuka to make Keine (who has to worry about protecting the helpless Yuuka) give up the sacred treasures.

The guys are basically doing everything they can, pulling every dirty trick in the book... just to break even with the girls, while simaltaneously trying to amass more power in order to barely break even with the next challengers.

Yukari probably could have soloed them all if she hadn't foolishly waited until after Rinnousuke got the three sacred treasures.

I agree with Omni, basically, Batman gambits and cunning are practically the only way to realistically defeat anyone in gensoukyo.

Love how Flandre mistakes Youki for Santa though.
