Aside from Trollosuke being...Trollosuke. Ignoravens being used for bakarasu? Brilliant.

And I thought only Hidefu's Rinnosuke could troll this hard.

Honestly, I think keeping it simple with "birdbrains" would be the best. As clever as "ignoravens" is, it's not the kind of thing a flustered person would come up with on the fly. It's actually too clever.

Maybe? It's hard for me to judge, since my Japanese is so shaky. Either way, though, all that matters is that people get the joke, which it seems that they do.

Probably not. Probably depends on the skill of the person and what language they know of first. Might be easier to understand if you're Japanese but harder to translate. Like CakeMaster thought my Japanese isn't good but I suppose practicing helps :)

I'll take clever wordplay over literal translation any day, especially when it comes to Japanese punning. Puns just don't translate well, and if you were to go with "stupid raven" or "birdbrain", you'd completely fail to convey the fact that a pun was employed at all. Good call on "ignoraven" over "crowtin", by the way. The latter just doesn't possess the former's, ah, je ne sais quoi.

Did she come up with it on the fly, though? With how often Momiji must get trolled by one or the other of those two (or both), I can easily imagine that word being a regular part of her daily vocabulary.
