How come Hakurei Miko was received well by the community, but Mitori was far less receptive?

They're both original creations, which seems to be immensely disliked by the hardcore canonical fan of Touhou.

Hakurei Miko had the whole M.U.G.E.N. thing and the "Osana Reimu" series to boost her appeal. Truthfully, I would also prefer more of Mitori.
