Ran being male is news to me, but it's been known (or at least strongly implied) that Yamame was a woman for a long time now.

Oh dear, well, every marriage has it's little speed bumps every now and again. I'm sure everything will clear up once we see what's inside the box. Or Kogasa-san will get Sanaelated, one of the two.
