well, it looks like he knows what a skeleton is now, and started using joints. My issue is out of all the things that ZUN is doing, why doesn't he let some one else do the art. There are literally thousands of people who can do it better than him by a long shot. Game Programmers do not make good artists.

There's really very little wrong with her face. I think it just seems weird at first because there's not that much wrong with it. Her expression is a little blank, and the eyes are a bit wide apart, but other than that it's fine.

Because until recently, Touhou was a hobby for ZUN. The more people he brings in, the more it ceases to be his, at least as far as the shooters are concerned. He wants to do everything on those because it's fun for him. Fairy Wars being the only exception because he wanted to retain the feel of the manga.
At this point I'd be disappointed if he quit drawing. He's come a long way. Even he if hadn't, his art would still be part of the charm. It just wouldn't be Touhou without it, in either the aesthetic and maybe not even in popularity, since others may not have been so driven to see his designs fully realized. It all worked itself out.

His art for the characters is the control. And he taunts us to make them better.
Just see alphes improving his art in the fighting games.
