Soon after completion she's assigned to the carrier division together with Akagi, Kaga and Houshou.
As mentioned in her lines, her teammates Akagi and Kaga are also her eternal rivals.Battle of the Eastern SolomonsDuring the Japan-China Incident, Ryuujou, together with Kaga and Houshou, are placed to the first wave.
After the Pacific War breaks out, mostly she is assigned to back up the southern invasion force as one of the few aircraft carriers in Japanese force. She's also engaged in gunfights with gunboats anchored there... even though she's an aircraft carrier. But that aggressive side is nice isn't it ?
After being transferred again, Ryuujou participated in attack on Aleutian Islands and return with success.So, many Admirals should have checked this. This is the incident when the 4th fleet run into a storm and ends up damaged. You might also knew about Ryuujou's bridge getting crushed by the pressure.
As you would have known, Ryuujou's bridge used to stretch ahead. This caused a heavier damage during the incident.
After this, she's repaired and the bridge is reduced to a more conservative shape.After the loss of Akagi, Kaga, Hiryuu and Souryuu in the Battle of Midway, Ryuujou is sent to the Battle of Eastern Solomons with Shoukaku and Zuikaku.
Ryuujou is detached in advance and entered the detection range of Saratoga and Enterprise. After that, Ryuujou became target of concentrated attack from Saratoga.
Ryuujou's hull failed after sustaining four bombs and one torpedo attack. But thanks to the concentrated attack on Ryuujou, Shoukaku and Zuikaku can escape without much meaningful damage.* I personally think both are cool.
