    桜は冒険者を死へいざなう

    http://www.foe.sc/ 2Xさんの世界樹全滅合同本「THE GAME OVERS」カラーページ用に描いたイラストです。
    だいぶ前だしもう出してもOKということで公開。Ⅱの４階層『桜ノ立橋』を描きました。

    ■パーティーとして成り立ってそうで女の子のみで尚且つ職業内では描かれないキャラを考えてチョイスしています。僕のパーティーというわけではないですスイマセン。あとレンジャー短髪は見るほうですがダクハンと被るのでこっちにしましたスイマセン。
    ■モンスターは全部で１５体（9種類）。自由に描いたキャラとは逆にみんなが苦しめられた印象から外れないようにがんばって似せました……がレイヴン（青い鳥）だけだいぶ違いますね……飛ばないダチョウ系のような印象もあるので果たしてこれでよかったのか

    Painfully true to what can actually happen in Etrian II's fourth stratum. Very clearly, the Cockatrice (a brutal FOE) took out their medic, and the rest of the squad, bereft of their healer, was torn apart piecemeal by the status-spamming monsters thereafter.

    Simultaneously one of the best and most horrifying Etrian arts I've ever seen.

    But hey - at least they saved their map data.

    ^Its things like this as to why EO has so many (actually good) guro and bad-end artworks. It is born out of both player sympathy and frustration. We've all been there. Having our adorable team of badasses being slaughtered mercilessly by FOE or a bad encounter, or even a dumb mistake. Here's hoping they get to work on a classic styled EO5 soon. No baby handholding like Millenium Waifu had, either.

    Also I looove how the artist actually worked the game over screen into the picture. So thoughtful.

    To be fair to Millenium Waifu, you could ignore most of that handholding nonsense, and, played on Expert, it was unequivocally the hardest one in the entire series. Classic/Expert was one hell of an experience and definitely a worthy challenge for any Etrian Vet. Etrian represents an unusual feature in that the makers of it understood both the hardcore and non-hardcore arguments, usually dismantling both hilariously in comics, since anyone who wants the standard challenge difficulty can do so, and anyone who wants a more accessible one for the newbies can have that, with nobody really losing out.

    It's incredible how this pic manages to capture the esence of a fight on Etrian Odyssey. It's literally kill of be killed, specially on the early stages when you have to almost rely on dumb luck to scape some of the direst situations. Your strategy can fall apart so quickly too even when you've got a tons of levels to boast if you have bad luck.

    Shit, playing this series for the first time was suffering.
